Did you see any fabric for sale?

  2. No, unfortunately I didn’t. They did have placemats, which I know a lot of people use for crafting…

  3. 40% off retial prices found in store?

  4. Hi Holly,

Most items usually start around 40% off of the retail price found in the stores, and then get marked down even more as the sale progresses…

  5. I went to the sale on Thursday morning and was so excited about the deals only to be angry later that evening to get an email from vera bradley stating news about further markdowns. I got the curvy tote which retails for 62.00 for only 20.00 but the markdowns for Friday say they are now 10.00 – I did not realize they continue to mark down through the week. What is the selection usually like on Sunday? anybody? Also thought the hope grows apparel was beautiful.

  6. Hi Nicole,

If it’s any consolation, the curvy totes were going fast. It was hard to even get close to the table. One of the worker set down a pile of thirty pinwheel pink totes, and within less than a minute, they were all gone! I have never went on Sunday (usually broke by then), but the selection is usually decent still on Saturdays, although there are not as many prints available. I agree with you – the Hope Grows apparel is beautiful.

  7. I was wondering if there is going to be a fall sale this year? Does anyone know? Thank you in advance.

  8. I went on Sat and Sun There was basically the same thing both days, most things were not any cheaper on Sun than they were on Sun, only a few dollars less for backpacks, most everything was the same pattern

  9. I am looking for a Botanica Garment Bag, have been looking on the web,
    any suggestions. Thanks!!

    • Hi Susan, I checked both ebay and Amazon, and did not come across one in the Botanica print. If I were you, I would keep an eye on these sites, and maybe even email some of the eBay powersellers, to try to track it down.

  10. Thanks Dawn!!

  11. Did they have any new patterns such as purple punch? If so what pieces and how much were they?

  12. does anyone know if there will be a fall warehouse sale?

    • They have not announced any dates for a fall outlet sale. As soon as I hear anything about one, I will post the information here on my blog…

I don’t know when the above pictures were taken nor when the author went to the sale, but I attended last year on Saturday (the second to the last day).
My friend and I waited at least an hour to get in, then at least 2 hours to check out through a line that weaved back and forth. All of the staff were very friendly, but I have never waited in lines this long..not even at Disney World!!!

  14. catherineholda says:

Do you have an outlet in florida,I live near saint augustine.

    • Hi Catherine,

At this time, I think there is only an outlet store in Illinois – not sure if they will be adding any more. They also have a big warehouse sale in Fort Wayne, Indiana, in April (that’s where these pictures were taken).

  15. can’t wait for the sale! we are doing a girls weekend. does anyone know of other “cute” shopping spots in the area?

    • So glad you’re coming to the sale! There are actually some great shopping spots in Fort Wayne. The sale is held just a couple of miles down the road from Glenbrook Mall – it’s a huge indoor mall with two floors and lots of places to shop. There is also a large outdoor mall located on the southwest side of town called Jefferson Pointe. In past years, the Vera Bradley company had shuttles that ran back and forth between Jefferson Pointe and the Memorial Coliseum. Vera Bradley has a beautiful store at Jefferson Pointe, and it’s a great mall to visit, especially if the weather is nice (always a toss up in April). If you do go to Jefferson Pointe, make sure you also check out the DeBrand’s chocolate shop – yum!

  16. Hi Dawn–My girlfriend and I are FIRST time newbies to this event. We have gone to the AG Sale in Madison WI—but the tickets were assigned times to get in. I noticed that there is no assigned time….so how does that work? If it opens at 8:00–what time to we need to be IN LINE to get in by 8:30 and also….where do you recommend we stay—-or NOT STAY? We are planning to drive the 4.5/5 hours and arrive the Wed. evening before the sale. And..do we need to bring our own bags to tote stuff around in?
I appreciate any help/suggestions you can offer.
    Thank you,
    Holly

    • Hi Holly,

Vera Bradley has a list of good places to stay on their website: http://www.verabradley.com/content/content.jsp?pageName=outletsale – the Holiday Inn IPFW at Coliseum is the closest (it’s right across the street). I really don’t know what to tell you as far as when the best time to get in line – it’s different every year. I usually go after dropping the kids off at school, and I have been lucky, because I have never really had to wait to get into the sale. You don’t need to bring your own bags to tote items around – if it’s like previous years, you will get a big pink plastic bag to put your purchases in while browsing. Hope you have fun!

  17. Vera Bradley is my faviorte they are so pretty and i have so many i have to switch twice a day

  18. Has anyone ever gone on Sunday?? Are the prices much different from Saturday to Sunday??

  19. Do you have to bring cash? or can you pay with you debit card/credit card?!

  20. Do they take American Express?

    • Hi Amanda,

I really don’t know if they take American Express, but if I had to guess, I would say yes, based on that they accept American Express for website purchases.

  21. Any body go yesterday to the sale? just wondering how it was? I’m planning to go tomorrow (Saturday). Went last year on Sunday (last day of the sale) and the prices were awesome.

  22. Noreen says:

I JUST WENT TO THE 2010 SPRING SALE WE GOT THERE AT NOON AND WAITED 2 HOURS TO GET IN THE COLISEUM. IT WAS A 45 MIN. WAIT TO GET INTO A PORT-A-POTTY. WE SHOPPED FOR AN HOUR AND A HALF AND THEN WAITED 2 HOURS TO CHECK OUT!! WE KNEW IT WOULD BE AN ADVENTURE BUT I WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE TO HAVE AN ASSIGNED TIME SO THE WAIT WASN’T SO LONG. I WAITED LESS TIME IN DISNEY AND WAS IN A MORE COMFORTABLE ENVIRONMENT. THE GOOD NEWS WAS THAT THE PRICES WERE GOOD AND I SPENT THE DAY WITH MY DAUGHTER AND GRANDDAUGHTER. IT SOUNDS LIKE A BETTER TIME TO GO IS IN THE LATE AFTERNOON.

  23. Camille says:

I went on Saturday this year and the prices were amazing! Next year we are planning on going on the first day and the last day. :D

  24. MY DAUGHTER AND I CAME FROM 10 HOURS AWAY. I HAD GONE BEFORE AND IT WAS GREAT. BUT THIS YEAR I WAS TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE SET UP. WE GOT THERE AT 7 AM AND DID NOT GET IN TILL 9. TOOK 2 HOURS TOO CHECK OUT. IT WAS TO MUCH WASTED TIME. THEY SHOULD OFFER FREE COFFEE AND DONUTS WHILE WAITING.

  25. Martha says:

My daughter and I took a day off of work to go to the sale on Friday. At 10:00 we arrived to find a line with a 4 1/2 hour wait. We tried again at 1:00 and at 3:00, the lines never seemed to get any shorter. While I expect a long line, this was a not acceptable. Since it was required that you had to pre-register, pay $5.00 ahead of time and then get a form with your name and a bar code on it ready for scanning, I only assumed that the marketing people finally decided that they needed to control the crowds. I therefore assumed that with the bar code, a limited amount of people would be granted a number to get in to that day’s event. WOW! what a great marketing gimick. They take in all that money knowing full well that reasonable people would not attempt to spend all day in line for a cloth purse. I intend to ask for the $10.00 back and possibly file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, not to mention the parking fee. I still wonder, what was the purpose of the pre-registration? My only answer was fraud.

  26. Ruth Dexter says:

I was pre -registered and I am very disappointed. I agree with the e-mail just above this note, that a refund of five and also the parking fee should be refunded. We got there at 9:30 and walk for 3hrs, and never got really close to the main entrance. I believe in view of the fact that you knew how many that were pre registered , that is would not be possible for all of us to get in, therefore this really is a fraud. It was a wasted day,and a lot of gas to get there. We had to leave at 12:30. 3 hours in the hot sun was agony too.
    Ruth Dexter

  27. I agree with the two laides above! My twin sister and I thought the adventure would be a fun girls weekend for us and my 6 year old niece. We arrived on Saturday at noon and found a line all the way back to the end of the parking lot. I took my niece to the HIlton downtown to check in while my sister waited in line. We heard from many ladies that people arrived well before 8am and still had to wait in line. Oh, and yes since we had to pay to get into the parking lot to check out the line, and then again after I checked into the hotel, I paid twice within 2 hours. Many women at the Hilton told us they didn’t even bother waiting and were not going back the next day. They were going to take the opportunity to relax and visit with friends. Once in, I was shocked at the groups or women hoarding piles or merchandise on the floor around the perimiter of the room and no one doing anything about it. No wonder no one else could get in the building, piggy people were camping out with piles of merchandise. You would think they had never seen or touched a Vera Bradley bag before. We wandered for awhile and then moved to the check-out line. We were in line for 3 1/2 hours to pay! My poor niece was tired, hungry and only wanted to swim back at the hotel, something we had promised her when we asked her to go with us. She told us that she didn’t want to come back next year. I went back to the sale early the next morning in the rain while my sister and niece slept in and later when the weather cleared, went to the zoo. I guess I just thought, wow…what a great event, we are all here for the same reason. Not the case! I looked on ebay after the weekend and all of the outlet items were out there. I am happy to report that, the second day, the staff was announcing that you could only hold merchandise and sort on the floor or sorting tables for 30 minutes. I am guessing they did not have a great time putting back all of the unwanted merchandise that no one ever bought becuase it was hoarded for most of the previous day and then left on the floor. The trip did make for great comedy! I still tell people at work and those that are Vera Bradley fans that the drive from Chicago to Ft. Wayne was worth it just for the entertainment. Watching grown women have no consideration for others, storming a building, and being selfish…. all for a purse. We plan to go back in 2011, again, just for the entertainment factor. If you don’t like lines, don’t go. Luckily we have a very nice Vera Bradley store in Oak Brook, IL and an outlet in Aurora.

  28. I have a great time every year! Our whole family goes and we get more people each year. Yes it is a long wait..but you get a price list and a map while you are waiting so you can make a plan of attack then! We have a great time meeting others in line and sorting afterwards. This will be our 4th year..we drive 3 or 4 hours and get a hotel..eat at Ihop and girl bond! Great fun for us!

  29. So I bought tickets for the April sale , should I assume that I will get in at the time my ticket says? or could I still end up waiting in line for hours?

  30. Does this FW sale have seconds and, if so, are they clearly marked?
How about the discontinued patterns? Are they marked as such or do you need to just know what’s old.
    Thanks
    Chris

    • Hi Chris,

The sale does have factory seconds, and in past years, these have not been clearly marked. You have to carefully inspect everything you want to buy to make sure the stitching is good and that all buttons, zippers, etc. work. Most of the items are discontinued patterns, although sometimes there are current patterns available.

  31. Heather says:

I am planning on attending the one in April for the first time, but not until the 3rd day Friday, any tips on time frame? I am 3 hours away I was planning on getting there when they open at 8am? Or way earlier??

    thank you

    • Hi Heather,

I wish I could give a good answer to your question. Every year is a little different. In previous years, I have arrived at 8 am and walked right in. Last year, however, I arrived around 8:00 and waited for three hours. Wear comfy shoes, dress for the weather, bring snacks and water – that way if you do get stuck in a long line, you will be prepared! There may still be tickets available for Wednesday and Thursday – you can also avoid the lines by buying tickets to attend the sale on one of those two days.

      Dawn

  32. I am planning on attending the in April for the first time we have tickets for Thurs 11:30-1pm. What time should we arrive? What should we expect do you have to wait in line?

    • Hi Julie, Do you mean 11:00-1:30? You should not have to wait in line too long to get into the sale (if at all).

  33. Im wanting to go on Sunday but am wondering if it will be worth my time. Im afraid everything will be picked over. Does anyone know what its like to go on Sunday’s and if you have to wait in a long iine?

  34. We are coming by bus on Saturday. are there places to sit down while you are waiting on others from the bus to finish
